Width is the widest point from fender edge to fender edge, height is from the windshield edge to the front lip, following the curve of the hood with a soft tape rather than a straight line across. Add 2 inches to every edge so the film can wrap under the lip, which is 4 inches on each number. A hood that measures 56 by 56 is a 60 by 60 order. A hood with a scoop or a power bulge needs extra: measure over the bump and tell us where it sits.

A 60 by 60 or 60 by 72 hood is printed as two panels split along its length, each with a 1 inch overlap so the second panel lies over the first, labeled in order. The proof shows where the seam falls so you can move the design, or put the seam down the center on a symmetrical graphic where a line in the art hides it. Yes, with patience, a helper and a heat gun. A hood is a big, mostly flat panel, which makes it the friendliest place on a vehicle to learn. Clean the hood with soap, then alcohol. Hinge the panel with tape, peel the backing in stages, squeegee from the center out, post-heat the edges and wrap the bleed under the lip. Trim with a fresh blade. If you would rather not, any wrap installer can lay our panels; the proof marks the seam and the bleed.

How to measure your hood
Lay a soft tape over the hood and follow the surface, not a straight line through the air. Measure the width at the widest point and the length from the windshield edge to the front lip, then add 2 in of bleed per edge.

File rules for wrap panels
- Add 2 inches of bleed on every edge, and include the bleed in the size you order.
- Panels wider than 52 inches are split into panels with a 1 inch overlap. The price is the size you order.
- Send one file per vehicle side, at full scale or at 1:10 with the scale in the file name, in CMYK, with fonts outlined, at 100 to 150 ppi at full size.
- Panels ship labeled in order, ready to install.
Install basics on a hood
- 1Wash and clay the hood, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol. Remove any emblem or washer nozzle you can take off.
- 2Dry-fit both panels with masking tape and check that the seam lands where you planned it.
- 3Lay the back panel first: peel the liner, tack the top edge at the windshield, and squeegee from the center out toward the sides.
- 4Lay the front panel over the back one on the 1 in overlap. Use a heat gun on the front edge and any crease so the cast film conforms.
- 5Trim the bleed at the hood edge and wrap it under the lip about a half inch.
- 6Post-heat every edge and the seam, then press them down. Wait 24 hours before washing.
