What rack card sizes do we print?
Inline Graphics prints rack cards in two sizes, 3.5 x 8.5 and 4 x 9 inches, on heavy cover stock, both sides. 250 full-color 4 x 9 in Cover Stock rack cards are $203.29. Check your rack's pocket width before you choose, and every order ships for a flat $10 to any US address.
A 4 x 9 in card gives you 36 square inches of face, 6.25 more than the 29.75 square inches of a 3.5 x 8.5 in card (36 minus 29.75). The slimmer card is cheaper only in small packs: 250 are $181.89 against $203.29 for the 4 x 9.
| Finished size | Face | 250 cards |
|---|---|---|
| 4 x 9 in | 36 sq in | $203.29 |
| 3.5 x 8.5 in | 29.75 sq in | $181.89 |
Face area is width times height. Both are heavy cover stock, full color, both sides. There is no custom-size field, and we do not add perforation, foil, or a spot finish on this page. For a cut that is not listed, ask on the contact page.
The 4 x 9 in card is the size the product opens on, and it is the size we recommend. Order either cut on the rack cards page. How to choose a pack from 250 up to 2,000, for the 4 x 9 build, is in rack cards cost.

Which size fits a display rack?
Check your rack's pocket width before you pick: a 4 x 9 in card is 4 inches wide, and a 3.5 x 8.5 in card is 3.5 inches wide. If the pocket is narrower than the card, the card will not sit in it.
We do not publish a pocket width, and we do not name a rack brand whose slot matches one of these cards. Racks differ. Measure the opening you actually have, width and the height of the lip that hides the lower part of the card. A card that is the right height and the wrong width still will not go in.
The half inch of extra width on the 4 x 9 (4 minus 3.5) is where a logo, a short headline, and a photo can sit on one line without stacking into a narrow column. The extra half inch of height (9 minus 8.5) is more card above a lip of the same height, and only if the pocket accepted the 4 inch width first. Choose 3.5 x 8.5 when the pocket is the narrower one, or when the art was already built for that slim proportion. Choose it for the pocket, not because the two cards look similar on a screen.
A 3.5 x 8.5 in trim is also used for some door hangers. A door hanger is a different product: it has a handle slot and a different stock. This rack card has no slot. A folded brochure is a different product again, on the custom brochures page, and its closed size has to clear the same pocket. Measure twice if both pieces will share a rack.
What belongs in the top third of a rack card?
The business name and the offer belong in the top third, because a rack may conceal much of the lower card. Cover the bottom two thirds of the card with a blank sheet. If a stranger can still tell who you are and what you are offering, the card can live in a deep pocket.
That covered-sheet test is the layout rule. It is not a measurement of your rack. Some lips are shallow and show most of a 9 inch card. Some lips hide more than two thirds. After the test, hold the card in your own rack, or hold a piece of paper cut to 4 x 9 (or 3.5 x 8.5) in the pocket, and mark the line the lip actually makes. Move the offer above that line. We do not publish the lip height, because it belongs to the rack in the room.
Keep the top third to one name, one short offer, and one image if the image helps the offer. A list of services in that band will be too small to read from a step away. The lower two thirds can carry the list, a code, and the contact line for the person who pulls the card out. Until they pull it, that lower area is optional. The back is the place for the longer explanation, a simple sequence, or the details that would have crushed the front. One next step is enough. Two equal next steps make the reader choose what the layout should have chosen.
How much do rack cards cost at each size?
250 full-color rack cards on double-sided Cover Stock cost $203.29 at 4 x 9 in and $181.89 at 3.5 x 8.5 in. From 750 pieces up, the order flips: 1,000 of the 4 x 9 are $267.49, and 1,000 of the 3.5 x 8.5 are $320.99.
| Quantity | 4 x 9 in | 3.5 x 8.5 in |
|---|---|---|
| 250 | $203.29 | $181.89 |
| 500 | $224.69 | $192.59 |
| 750 | $246.09 | $299.59 |
| 1,000 | $267.49 | $320.99 |
| 1,500 | $363.79 | $492.19 |
| 2,000 | $385.19 | $502.89 |
Read the column for the size you are buying. A long run is one more reason to choose the 4 x 9 when your pocket takes it.
These are pack totals. Shipping is a flat $10 on the order and is not inside them. Production is 3 to 5 business days after artwork approval. Printed in the USA, then shipped to any US address for that flat $10. The smallest pack is 250, so a single counter still starts there. The unused cards are a reserve only if the message will still be true later.
Send your file or image through AI image to print for $14.99 per item, or send it after checkout for the same $14.99. A free digital proof comes with the order. Design it for me is an extra $29.99 and includes two revisions. That charge is free when the item itself is $499 or more. Only one pack above reaches that line, 2,000 of the 3.5 x 8.5 in at $502.89. For every other pack, budget the $29.99 if you want the layout built.
What file should you send for a rack card?
Send the file you already have: the upload takes PDF, AI, PSD, EPS, JPG, PNG, SVG, TIFF, WEBP and HEIC, including a phone photo or a Canva export. After you order, we make it print ready (size, bleed, resolution and color) and send a free digital proof. Artwork preparation through AI image to print is $14.99 once per item.
Your part is the shape and the order of the message. Design in the tall proportions of the size you are buying, so a 4 x 9 layout is not squeezed onto a 3.5 x 8.5 card later. Keep the name, the phone number, and any code clear of the outer edge, because that edge is where the stack is trimmed.
Then read the proof with the top-third test in mind: name and offer still clear when the lower area is covered, nothing important on the trim, the code large enough to scan. Approval starts the 3 to 5 business days. The print marketing collection is where the other handouts live if a tall rack card is the wrong shape for the message.

Frequently Asked Questions
Two sizes, both on heavy cover stock, printed on both sides: 4 x 9 in and 3.5 x 8.5 in. The 4 x 9 in card is the one we recommend. 250 are $203.29 at 4 x 9 in and $181.89 at 3.5 x 8.5 in.
250 full-color 4 x 9 in Cover Stock rack cards cost $203.29, about $0.81 each. 500 are $224.69. 2,000 are $385.19. Those totals are the 4 x 9 in size only.
On double-sided Cover Stock, 3.5 x 8.5 in rack cards are $181.89 for 250, $192.59 for 500, $299.59 for 750, $320.99 for 1,000, $492.19 for 1,500, and $502.89 for 2,000. From 750 up, the slimmer card costs more than the 4 x 9.
Check your rack's pocket width. A 4 x 9 in card is 4 inches wide. A 3.5 x 8.5 in card is 3.5 inches wide. If the pocket is narrower than the card, the card will not sit in it. We do not publish a pocket width for a particular rack.
The business name and the offer. Cover the bottom two thirds with a sheet of paper. If those two things are still clear in the top third, the card can survive a deep pocket. Then measure your own rack's lip, because that height is not a number we publish.
We accept PDF, AI, PSD, EPS, JPG, PNG, SVG, TIFF, WEBP and HEIC files, including a phone photo or a Canva export. After you order, we make the file print ready (size, bleed, resolution and color) for $14.99 once per item and send a free digital proof.
Production is 3 to 5 business days after artwork approval. Shipping is a flat $10 to any US address after that. The smallest pack is 250. Design it for me is $29.99 unless the item itself is $499 or more.
