How Much Does a 4 x 8 ft Vinyl Banner Cost?
A 4 x 8 ft single-sided 13 oz Custom Printed Banner is $229.00 with hems and grommets included. It is $256.79 in 15 oz, $288.89 in 18 oz Heavy Duty, and $470.79 double sided on 18 oz. Printed in the USA in 3 business days after artwork approval and shipped nationwide, flat $10 shipping to any US address.
That 32 square foot banner is the size for a chain link fence, the side of a building or the back wall of a gym, and it prints on the same custom vinyl banner page as every other size. The price covers the print, a folded and stitched hem on every edge, metal grommets, and a free digital proof with every order. To have your own image made print ready, AI image to print is $14.99 once per item.
Every figure below is for one banner with the options at their defaults: single sided, grommets on, hems on, no pole pockets, no wind slits, no rush. Change one and the price moves by the amount shown.
| 4 x 8 ft banner | Price |
|---|---|
| 13 oz Standard, single sided | $229.00 |
| 15 oz Premium, single sided | $256.79 |
| 18 oz Heavy Duty, single sided | $288.89 |
| 18 oz Heavy Duty, double sided | $470.79 |
| 13 oz with wind slits | $250.40 |
| 13 oz with a top pole pocket (grommets removed) | $271.80 |
| 13 oz with rush service | $343.50 |
A 4 x 8 and an 8 x 4 are the same banner at the same price, since both are 32 square feet. Enter the width first so the proof comes back the way it will hang.

What Does a 4 x 8 Banner Cover on a Fence or Building?
A 4 x 8 covers 32 square feet, which is tall enough to carry a 12 inch headline and still leave room for a logo, a phone number and a line of services. Using the rule in our banner size guide, one inch of capital letter height reads from about ten feet away, so a 12 inch headline on a 4 x 8 reads from about 120 feet, the far side of a parking lot or a ball field.
That is why this size belongs on a fence line, a building face or a long interior wall instead of above a door. Above a single storefront door a 4 x 8 is too tall, and the 3 x 6 banner fits better. On a chain link fence along a road, or on the side of a shop that faces traffic, 4 x 8 is the size that gets read.
Should a Fence Banner Be Vinyl or Mesh?
Vinyl for a solid surface, mesh for an open fence. A 4 x 8 13 oz vinyl banner is $229.00 and gives a bright, solid print. A 4 x 8 Mesh Banner is woven so that roughly 30 percent of the wind passes through instead of loading the fence.
On a wall, a solid fence or the side of a building, wind is not the problem and vinyl is the better buy and the better looking print. On an open chain link fence, a wooden rail fence or a baseball outfield fence, a solid vinyl banner catches the whole wind load like a sail. If the fence is open, order the woven banner, which is priced by size on its own page.
How Much Is a Double-Sided 4 x 8 Banner?
A double-sided 4 x 8 is $470.79, and it prints on 18 oz Heavy Duty only. The single-sided 18 oz banner is $288.89, so the second face costs more than the first on this size.
Most 4 x 8 banners never need it. A banner on a fence shows one face to the road. A banner on a building shows one face. Double sided pays off only when the banner hangs where people pass on both sides, such as across a walkway or from a ceiling in an arena. Our single versus double-sided banner guide runs through the cases at every size.
What Do Wind Slits, Pole Pockets and Rush Add on a 4 x 8?
Wind slits add $15.99, a top pole pocket adds $35.99 on an 8 ft width, and rush adds 50 percent of the banner price. On a 13 oz 4 x 8 that is $250.40 with wind slits, $271.80 with a top pole pocket and $343.50 with rush.
Wind slits are cuts in the vinyl that let some air through. They help a vinyl banner in an exposed spot, but on an open fence they are a half measure next to the woven banner covered above, which breathes across the whole surface instead of a few cuts.
Pole pockets are a fabric sleeve along an edge that a pole slides through, which is how a banner hangs from a horizontal pipe or a bracket on a building. They are priced by the width of the banner and require the grommets to be removed, so on the product page you turn grommets off first, then choose Top, Bottom or Both. A pocket on both edges costs more than one.
Rush is charged on the banner and never on the finishing add-ons. Design Under Deadline covers last minute file changes. Print-Ready is for approved artwork that only needs a faster turnaround.
How Does a 4 x 8 Compare With Other Fence and Building Sizes?
In 13 oz single sided, a 3 x 8 is $179.00, a 4 x 6 is $179.00, a 4 x 8 is $229.00, a 4 x 10 is $279.00, a 6 x 8 is $329.00, a 5 x 10 is $349.00 and an 8 x 10 is $549.00. Price follows area, and the steps between the common fence sizes are small next to the jump to 8 x 10.
Match the banner to the fence, not the budget. A 3 x 8 fits a 4 ft tall fence with a border of chain link showing. A 4 x 8 fills a 4 ft fence from top rail to bottom. A 4 x 10 or 5 x 10 suits a 6 ft fence or the side of a building where the lettering has to read across a lot. If you are between two sizes, measure the run of fence between posts and let the posts set the width.
What We See on Proofs for Fence and Building Banners
The mistake we catch most on this size is a phone number set small. On a desk, 2 inch letters look big. On a 4 x 8 banner read from 60 feet across a lot, 2 inch letters are a line of gray. The one inch per ten feet rule says the number needs 6 inch digits to read from that distance, and a 4 x 8 has the height for it.
The second thing is artwork that stops at the edge. A fence banner gets zip tied through every grommet and the edges pull tight, so anything closer than 2 inches to the edge sits in the hem or under a tie. Keep the background color running to the edge and keep every word, logo and number at least 2 inches inside.
Set the canvas at 96 x 48 inches, or 8 x 4 ft, before you place anything. A file built at a smaller size with the same proportions is fine. A file built at a different proportion, such as a 16:9 screen canvas, has to be cropped or stretched, and we will ask before we do either.
How to Hang and Order a 4 x 8 Banner
Hang a 4 x 8 through every grommet, not just the corners. On chain link, use a zip tie or a bungee at each grommet and tension it gradually so the banner lies flat and no single grommet carries the load. On a wall, use anchors rated for the wall material, and add a bungee at each corner so the banner can move a little in wind instead of tearing. A banner this size is a two person job, and our hanging guide has the step by step for walls, railings and fences.
To order, open the custom vinyl banner page, enter 8 ft wide by 4 ft tall, and leave the material on 13 oz unless the banner is a long-term outdoor display, which is what 15 oz Premium is for. Leave grommets and hems on. If the banner is going on an open fence, go back to the fence section above before you order. Send your image through AI image to print for $14.99 once per item, or ask for Design it for me, then check the proof as if it were already printed, and approve it. Production is 3 business days from approval, and shipping is a flat $10 to any US address on top of the $229.00 banner.
Frequently Asked Questions
A 4 x 8 ft single-sided 13 oz vinyl banner is $229.00 with hems and grommets included. It is $256.79 in 15 oz Premium and $288.89 in 18 oz Heavy Duty. Production is 3 business days after artwork approval and shipping is a flat $10 to any US address.
A double-sided 4 x 8 ft banner is $470.79. It prints on 18 oz Heavy Duty vinyl, the only weight we print on both sides, and the single-sided 18 oz version is $288.89. Buy double sided only when both faces will be seen, which is rare for a banner on a fence or a wall.
Yes. Both are 32 square feet and both are $229.00 in 13 oz. The price is set by area, so a banner 8 ft wide and 4 ft tall costs the same as one 4 ft wide and 8 ft tall. Enter width first and height second so the proof matches the way it will hang.
Mesh for an open chain link fence, vinyl for a solid fence, a wall or a building. A mesh banner is woven to let wind pass through. A 4 x 8 13 oz vinyl banner is $229.00 and gives a brighter, solid print, but it catches the full wind load on an open fence.
Wind slits add $15.99, so a 4 x 8 ft 13 oz banner with wind slits is $250.40. They reduce wind resistance on a vinyl banner, but on an open fence a mesh banner is the better buy because the whole surface breathes instead of a few cuts.
A top pole pocket adds $35.99 on a 4 x 8, making a 13 oz banner $271.80. Pole pockets are priced by the width of the banner and require grommets to be removed, so turn grommets off on the product page first, then choose Top, Bottom or Both. A pocket on both edges costs more than one.
Production takes 3 business days after digital proof approval, and the proof is free with every order. Shipping is a flat $10 to any US address. Rush service adds 50 percent of the banner price, so a rushed 4 x 8 ft 13 oz banner is $343.50. Rush is charged on the banner and never on the finishing add-ons.
