UVA Barber Shop Illuminated Sign

A barber shop that stays open until nine needs a sign that works after the sun goes down. The UVA logo, a barber pole standing between two lines of type with a grape cluster over it, was drawn for daylight.

We produced it as an illuminated sign with the light behind the face, so after dark the whole shape floats on a purple halo and the pole, the grapes and the lettering stay readable from the far end of the lot.

It is installed on the fascia above the entry, centered over the door glass, so the lit sign and the lit windows read as one storefront instead of two separate things.
