Why the Pattern Repeats

A photographer at a gala, a sponsor wall at a conference, a trade show booth and a store launch all use the wall the same way. People stand where they stand. A single centered logo can disappear behind the group. A repeat keeps a mark in the picture when the group shifts, crops tight, or posts a phone photo cut to a square.

Keep the repeat simple. The useful choice is an even grid of a few marks, large enough to read in a group photo. Equal sponsor marks should be equal if the sponsors are meant to match. The wall in a photo is background. A busy collage of unequal marks is a harder file to read once it is printed 8 ft tall.

Step and Repeat Backdrop Sizes: Which Width to Order

All three step and repeat backdrop sizes are 8 ft tall. The choice is the width: 8 ft, 9 ft or 10 ft. The 8 ft wall is $492.19 with the frame, the 9 ft wall is $513.59, and the 10 ft wall is $534.99.

Pick the width for the photo you want. An 8 ft wall frames one to three people comfortably and fits the back of a standard 10 x 10 trade show booth with room for the poles. A 10 ft wall gives a group of five or six a background that runs past their shoulders on both sides, which is what a red carpet or an awards line usually needs. The 9 ft wall is the middle choice when a 10 ft space is tight once the feet are down.

The poles telescope in height and width, but the fabric is hemmed to its size. Ordering the 8 ft fabric and expecting it to stretch to 10 ft will not work, and there is no custom size between these three.

Graphic only follows the same three widths, at $310.29, $331.69 and $363.79. Order it when the pole set from a previous event is still the one you want, and you need a new sponsor list on the fabric.

How Should the Logos Repeat on a Custom Backdrop?

Repeat the logos in an even grid, large enough to read in a group photo. That is a design choice, not a measured template. Build the file at the size you are buying, 8, 9 or 10 ft wide and 8 ft tall, and look at the proof at that size. A logo that looks large on a laptop can be the small mark once the fabric is the real width.

Leave the pole pockets clear of type. The edges are hemmed, and the pocket is the mount. A logo that falls inside the pocket is a logo the hem will hide.

Color is part of the same choice. A mark that stands off the background color of the fabric reads better in a group photo than a mark that matches it. Dark logos on a white field, or white logos on a deep brand color, both photograph cleanly under flash.

Production is the next business day after you approve the artwork. That clock starts at proof approval, not at the moment you upload a file. Shipping comes after the production day: a flat $10 per order on UPS Ground, 3 to 5 business days in transit, with faster UPS services available at checkout for an added cost.

Every order ships to the address you enter at checkout. That can be your office, the hotel where you are staying for the event, or a trade show's advance warehouse. For a show, add your company name and booth number to the shipping address so both print on the label, and follow your show's exhibitor service manual for the receiving dates.

Approve the proof with the production day and the transit days still in front of the event. Next business day production is the print window. It is not a promise about which morning the box arrives.

Mistakes We See in Backdrop Files

Logos arrive too small for the print size. Marks that read on a screen can disappear once the fabric is 8 ft tall. Repeat them in an even grid, large enough to read in a group photo, and look at that grid on the proof.

A 10 ft design sent with an 8 ft order is the other common miss. The three widths are the only widths, and the file has to match the fabric you are buying. Design the width you ordered.

The last one is the back. This backdrop is single sided, so a request for a second design on the reverse is a different display. When a wall has to read from both directions, a double-sided banner stand is the better tool.

Worked Example: An Awards Check-In
